Mad 20v's Mk1 showcar turned track car Why I chose it: a 1999 Golf mag cover car, rejuvenated to full track spec in 2004, it remains a quality benchmark to this day. max_torque's crazy RWD turbo WRC technology-laden Mk2 Ibiza Why I chose it: I met this guy years ago at Castle Combe's Converted Car of the Year event, run by CCC. He had a RWD Volvo 440, with an engine in the back, built on his parent's driveway. Fast forward 10 years, and he was working at Prodrive, with an insight into some of the best technology available. With the Volvo long broken up, and engine in need of a home, this is a stunning one-off hybrid, which has just been fired up for the first time. An object lesson in prep, and what knowledge engineers can bring home from work and transfer into a single garage 450 bhp unrestricted. Hmmmm, wow Looks like Panayiotis? has been emptying out a kitcar parts hoard. Engine is an ABF with Mk3 type inlets on it (just 4 injector ), box is Gemini Mk3/4 kitcar. The top mounts look like Ibiza kitcar. Edit, and rear. An awesome Mk1 chassis seamwelding and strenghthening checklist on that link. Edit, edit: that's got to be one of the finest Mk1 Scirocco track machines ever built. It is bristleing with ideas, retro engineered. I wonder why the old throttle pedal is still there I have heard he's got a Mk4 kitcar now also?
