Most of the rims are VW or aftermarket origin (at least for 13 & 14") meaning an offset of 38 mm.

Most of those rims were weighted by their owners, nothing scientific. But as you have to know, any weight you can have is subject to dispersion.

As a former tire test driver, I can say all the test rims were marked with their own weiht, and a recommandation for subjective testing was not to use rims with more than 200 or 400 gr (10 years ago, can't remember) of weight difference in the same set, meaning it is possible to find quite more!

I also have some doubts about the 7x15 RA's at 7 kg, when the 6x15 weight 8.0. Maybe measured on a coal trade balance!

Well, that's what it says on the tin!

I need to get the knackered F1's off the g60's soon so will weigh one then. Will replace with T1 R's after refurbing them.

Just weighed one of my Audi TT competition wheels

    17 x 7.5
    5 x 100

    9.1kg

    Not bad for the size!

Wheel and Tyre = 15.52 kg ( the thing had .14 kg of weights)

Obviously the tyre fitters didn't know this!

    http://www2.yokohama-online.com/gb/technical.php?page=23082

Yoko recon 7.6 kg for 185x60x14 (US web site quotes weights for tyres - lbs)
Makes the Teardrop (Silverstone?) a tubby 7.92 kg.

Why have Yoko stopped making A539s in 185x60x14?
Just when you find something you like the sods stop making it. At least Bridgestone had the decency to stop all B530 production. Will have to buy the 15" Minilites to fit A539s.

Can anyone tell me the weights (or difference in) of Speedline 2108 "Competition 2" and 2120 "Turini" each in 7Jx16"?

Wheelweights.net has the Turinis clocked in at 8.9kg for the 7Jx16 but cannot find 2108.

    Great info there, couple of questions;

Do you know how the wheels were weighed?

Are the above wheels from the Rado forum 5x100?

What tread depth did your michelin tyre have?

and thanks  for the info.

The list is getting bigger and bigger, some real suprises are poping up, its already made me rethink certain purchases.

What interests me the most is the weight of tyres, they are heavy! and weigh alot more than any light weight wheel, their rotating mass is also further out from the axis, so will have greater effect. I think tyre choice/weight is often over looked but is more important than wheel weight - plus its cheaper to put on light tyres than to buy light weight alloys!

Would be great to get more info on wheels and tyres, if you have some knocking around chuck them on the scales please. Real want to know the weight of some R888 or other track day tyre.

To help tie up a few loose ends, if you have surpplied info, just have a look at the thread for any question marks on some of the finer details, it would be great to update with all the numbers.

    cheers all.

I am finding that tyre manufacturer's USA web sites appear to always include weights in their data sheets. Will used them to compare what we have here!

I have some old 195/50/15 R888's in the garage. Will try and get them weighed some time soon.

I remember weighing the Azev A's that I used to run with those R888's a while back and iirc, the tyres were not that much lighter than the wheels!

Did a quick check on the Falken US web site. Their Track day tyres are only marginally lighter than the reinforced, 7 ply, equivalent road tyres. 24.5 lbs vs 25lbs.
Will do a bit more research and post a more definative look at weights of track/motorsport tyres vs road tyres.

Blimy 25lbs [eek] what size tyres were those, most R15 come in at 20lbs or less from the results and research so far.
