Hi gents, bit of advice please, got a 2002 2.0 gti, last 2 weeks had to top the expansion tank up,due to work and the garage being busy was booked in next Wednesday, temp went to the top today(coolant warning on dash, steam from thermostat housing)called the AA said its leaking round the bolt on the thermostat housing,is it much of a job to do? Think I might have fried the thermostat aswell, gutted the old girl is poorly ☹

easy peasy, undo the bolts till everything falls off, replace with new stuff. buy good quality parts and you'll be fine. be sure the new parts also come with the required seals, and if you decide to replace thermostat chuck in a pan of boiling water to make sure it actually opens
