Is it just me or am I missing the point here that man is a total arse and so are the people who phone in to his show.
really needs a reality check and a look in the mirror, then he will see he is white and mights top pretending he is a big hard black guy.
Gents you need to go back a little while, He does actually deserve a bit of respect. I used to listen to Westwood in 1982 / 1983 ish on a little pirate radio station called LWR. He was one of the only DJ's at that time that would play electro / hip hop. he had a show on from 4 til 8 on a wednesday and that was it. At the time all the other radio stations were afraid to play this 'new' style of music as it was quite underground. The only difference was when Mike Allan come onto Capital later. Westwood may be like he is now but back then he was one of the handfull of people that got the scene together in this country ( I prob got some old tapes somewhere ) Edited by: green with envy

Fair enough credit to him for his early work in promoting hip-hop on LWR and then later on Kiss, but to be honest he is the sad reflection of what has become a very sad stale music form. He did warm up for Eminem at Milton Keynes in the summer and it just confirmed just how p iss poor he is in the essentials of DJing hip-hop, namely music selection and mixing. He plays crud music and cant mix for toffee.
I'm with Tim, I listen to Westwood like a comedy show. The idea of some 40ish white guy saying thinks like "I'm the big dog pitbull, bow down and kiss the ring" is great, it's like watching your Uncle dance at a wedding, very funny but a bit sad.
He paid that guy to shoot him to get the "gangsta" credibility that is apperently needed to be taken seriously. Still an arse though. Edited by: DAVE 2227

and whilst we're on the subject....rap, hip hop, r&B and all that other black amercian rubbish is all total sh1t, as is the poxy ganster gun culture that goes with it. leave it in the US I say.....
I know what you're saying but it's not all like that, just like not all pop music is talentless bimbos miming and performing some sort of badly choreographed dance routine. I love hip hop but I don't really like the stuff Westwood plays... DJ Shadow, Roots Manuva, old skool stuff like De La Soul etc etc, doesn't promote violence, 'bling' or drug culture at all in fact, tries to positively discourage it... R&B though, with you on that one. Effing disgrace to the name, most of the modern stuff. No blues in it at all!
The fact that he plays the sh*t he does is enough to label him a tos*er surely ? Plus he has a SERIOUS personality disorder, its like Michael Jackson in reverse As for R&B theres no rythm there, never mind blues. Utter sh*te ! Edited by: superden
