I should say one thing in his defence, I've met Westwood and the whole thing is not put on, he really does talk like that, all the time!

I got given his album for my birthday, after listening to it just the once, I prompty went out and bought "just the tunes I liked" [or didn't already have] and gave it away! Noooooo..... the stuff he says is priceless. Who else can talk for 5 minutes without actually saying anything? Used to listen to his show occasionally purely to hear the drivel he spews. Me from page 1... Gents you need to go back a little while, He does actually deserve a bit of respect. I used to listen to Westwood in 1982 / 1983 ish on a little pirate radio station called LWR. He was one of the only DJ's at that time that would play electro / hip hop. he had a show on from 4 til 8 on a wednesday and that was it. At the time all the other radio stations were afraid to play this 'new' style of music as it was quite underground. The only difference was when Mike Allan come onto Capital later. Westwood may be like he is now but back then he was one of the handfull of people that got the scene together in this country ( I prob got some old tapes somewhere ) Back then he was earning peanuts - it was for the love. Now it's all about the money and contracts
Westwood is a complere misrepresentation of rap & hip hop music, the stuff he plays is total american pop rubbish, 50 cent, xhibit, ja rule are not worth their weight in salt! There are plenty of amazing hip hop groups/bands/dj's who would run rings musically and lyrically round anything on that poor excuse for a show. What amazes me is that it is still on in a relativly prime spot, he should be replaced and the whole show knocked back till after 12. He is just playing to the market of balling wannabe, 2nd generation money having, lazer cut beard having, fake jiggy, denim jacket wearing, driving my uncles bmw 318 with air con and fabric seats (and an alpina badge on the back) c**ts who hang about outside clubs at the weekend cause they cant get in anywhere and are looking for some drunk mingers to pray on!
Well it's great to see most of us are on the same page on this one: Westwood is a pr1ck. For the record, whenever that tw@t has the temerity to appear on my radio, it gets switched over straight away. No pauses, just gone. Is this what the BBC wants? I think not. I have limited sympathy for the fact he was attacked in his car a few yrs ago. It was only a question of whether he would be attacked from a white or black perspective because he is an embarrassment to both by attempting to, frankly, impersonate both at the same time. Ok, it's harsh, but if you're on the radio week in, week out on the radio, spouting garbage, you will annoy people, and small groups will take in things into their own hands to deal with this sort of thing. Fact. He should buck up his ideas or get off the radio, asap. My 2 penneth.
irritating TW*T though he is, he does get a mention and radio-style interval on "Into the Dragon". he doesn't sound anything like as pretentious on there; could it be that his street-slang BS is....put on??
