Isn't it great all these enthusiasts plough in to try and make these conversions? Seriously, this is good. Too many times you meet people who talk the torque, but don't commit.

Looking to get the ABF on the car over the next weekend/week. But I am having a problem with finding someone to weld in the lambda probe in the next few days. Everyone is fully booked.
Will the engine run safely without the probe? Is it emissions only or is it needed to meter fuel correctly. I'd like to get it in then fit the sensor before I really drive but will need to drive to exhaust fitter.

it'll run just fine without the probe, you will probably loose a little power but its not very noticeable. I ran mine without for a week or so (pure lazyness, after all the messing about to get it thru the MOT I just couldn't face going underneath AGAIN to fit it ) once i fitted mine the car felt a bit 'smoother', hard to put it into words really

    More advice please guys.
I have an ABF which was fitted with A/C.
With the A/C compressor removed the belt is obviously too long, i have ordered the non A/C replacement but to me the routing looks like it will rub the water pump.
I am also removing the PAS pump so do i need to fit a different pulley to the water pump to run it from the multi-V belt via the alternator?
that would do away with the smaller v belt currently on the PAS and water pumps.

    Thanks

swap the waterpump pulley for one off mk3 non-a/c 1.8-2.0 8v or 16v, job done :)

edit: there are 3 non-a/c waterpump belts, you have early one from spring loaded alternator setup which is shortest, then 2 for the separate tensioner wheel setup like what you have so you need to match that to the age of the lump

Hmm would a MK4 PAS one work or is it a different size?
Have to find a scrap yard otherwise!?

Could you take a picture of the set up you have.

I just had a friend of mine do this, so may be able to get the belt size for you.

No worries! These are the 2 sizes for the setup with the alternator belt tensioner wheel:
    2.0 16v 1992-1995 - 6PK975
    2.0 16v 1995-1998 - 6PK1038

The waterpump pulley is the same as on the VR6, however on 6 groove belt I would hang fire on that.
It would be closer to the 975mm part but not exactly sure if 975mm was used in the end.

You are in London, so ECP in Wembley do the belts.

Hi guys. Question for a friend.
We have a wiring loom and ecu for his abf but no immobiliser. Does it need to be an abf Immobiliser or are 8v the same?
    Really struggling to get one.

Edit: we now have immo box, ring and key. But do any other cars share wiring plugs for immo box?

    Thanks

any 96-98 mk3 and similar age vw and seat will do for the immob box and loom plugs, try to find a mk3 golf for the loom though as its quite easyier to get all the loom out without cutting compared to say seat and polo/lupo where its all integrated to dash loom.

after 98 cabrio, polo, lupo and seat still have them but the loom plugs changed. the very late polo/lupo ones may not be compatible they may require immob3 ecu not tested this one yet

main thing is you get the box and chip from the same car then you can code to your ecu easy with vagcom
