Well sort of, picked this up quite a while ago and at the time it was descibed as 20.64mm 1H161101019C for various Caddy / Cabrio and MK2's

Ate's on-line catalogue cross references that to their own number 03.2120-3943.3 and sure enough it's for various Seats / VW's.

Far too many to list, but some quite obscure ones amongst the other run of the mill stuff.

    https://web.tecalliance.net/ate/en/parts/3/03.2120-3943.3/detail?query=1H1611019C&numberType=1&oe=1H1611019C&groups=258#@brc/search:Search%20by%20any%20number%201H1611019C;query:1H1611019C;page:0/detail:03.2120-3943.3;brandId:3;articleNo:03.2120-3943.3;query:1H1611019C;numberType:1;oe:1H1611019C;groups:258

When you actually look at the thing is there some way of confirming it is what it was claimed to be?

The Tecdoc measurements tally insofar as it is 109mm (from where it meets the servo to the outside end) and 35mm (the broad bit behind that, unseen usually inside the servo).

The total length is approx. 180mm end to end.

The 20.6mm, is that something internal - piston diameter?

Can anyone decipher the other numbers / marks. I'm guessing some are manufacturing month / year maybe?

Not sure it helps but this cast aluminium one seems to have replaced 03.2120-2651.3, the only difference I can see being that earlier one was cast / black painted iron.

The given number is the diameter of the piston indeed. It says 20 on the last picture.
Funny, as I was looking for this number on my master cylinder, but couldn't find it. Now I know where to look [:D]

Cheers... bought it on the strength of what 7Zap said - that 1H161101019C was for my 1992 8V PB plus if you burrow down on the aftermarket tab there the very first example is Ate 03.2120-3943.3.

    https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/golf/go/1991-110/6/611-109000/#1

Fly in the ointment is that when you go to Ate's own TecDoc page the 112 hp 8v Golf isn't listed for this MC, though oddly the same engined Jetta is.

Got me wondering how you can actually confirm it's what it's supposed to be if there are no part numbers on it and you don't have the packaging etc?

I suppose if the spec. tallies and it physically fits that's enough?

Original plan was to use those 4 x outlets when I was re-doing the brake pipes but ended up keeping the original 2 x outlet MC / set up.

If it is compatible, would still be a spare with the extra outlets plugged.

try the older number 357611019, probably see it listed for mk2 golf on the ATE website the 1h0 part replaces it

if you bought this from VW you would also need to buy 2x 171611430 bungs to seal up the spare holes, or you can use bleed nipples.

technically this one is only used from 89ish on, earlier is 191611019 but its same fitment

but yeah youre right, all you can do is look at the outside of it since it has no real markings

There are multiple plunger diameters available, but they all fit as far as I know? (19/20/22)
I am going to replace my MBC for a 22 mm diameter one, when this one gives out. More fluid displacement with less pedal stroke.

when MC shopping look at polo and ibiza late 90s to mid 00s, some of them got 22mm master but with only 2 holes same as OE mk2 golf (even low spec with 239mm brakes, our 1.4 biza had one)

I use three holes, one for the rear (with brake bias adjuster) and one for each front caliper.

Interesting (for me at any rate) is that VW 191611019 is also Ate 03.2120-2031.3 and that's fitted to the 205 1.9 GTI.

If you've the time to go through the different manufacturers TecDoc catalogues you can potentially save a fortune by sourcing the bit you're after but was used in another vehicle that doesn't come with scene tax.

Cortina and marina used the same servo and master cylinder of memory serves me correctly, plus marina disc hubs and calipers fit prefect 100 spindle with a washer type spacer (even easier than fitting a minor)
Was handy to know what swapped, suppose its easier and cheaper to use something tried and tested and without major development costs.
    Focus master cylinder anyone?

With my brake issues I also suspect the master cylinder so I checked the prices.
    € 250,- for Ate and € 50,- for Meyle...

No I select the original vehicle (1986 VW Golf GTI 16v KR) then check the diameter.
Your original number comes up but it's the 20,6 mm.
    I want the 22 mm:
    357 611 019 B or 1H1 611 019 B (they come up with the Meyle) and additionally 192 611 019 B is referred for the ATS.

    Ate's number is 3.2122-1042.3.

Hence the bold 22 for the diameter ;)

    Brembo delivers the M 85 035 (22mm) for €52,34 on Autodoc.

No worries... shame, there's some up for sale here (Belgium) and might've been more easily got you also being in the EU.

Don't know if this is a good price but here it is if someone else is after one.

Good price for the Ate compared to what I find in NL.
I checked out my cylinder yesterday and it also says 22, so I already have the largest?

6K2698019 is the RHD 22mm master which only has the 2 holes, since not many know it also will do for 256/280s might find a bargain (like I did)
