On my mk2 8v gti PB, I was resetting ECU memory thing - revving idle to 3k x3. However, when I unplug the blue temp sender the engine always dies. Resistance check seems ok but would like a link to be able to resistance/temp check my blue temp sender - just can't find a graph or table... Any help much appreciated Joe

you unplug the sensor once engine is fully warmed up, then start the car. it may need some thottle to get it going, but if it wont idle by itself the base idle/co are either way out or theres some issue elsewhere. it cant bve the blue sensor causing this issue, since you have unplugged it try here, ecu sensor chart plus lots more info on digi troubleshooting: https://clubgti.com/forums/index.ph...ose-and-tune-your-mk2-digifant-gti-8v.124949/
Thanks I've fitted a new Hella blue temp, and same issue. There is no way I can start the car. Or if car is running with it plugged in, it always dies if I unplug it. Idle seems fine, and at recent mot CO was fine.
the ecu can compensate to a point bad base adjustments, but if its too far off it'll struggle. try winding out the idle screw a bit
Ok, so the idle screw didn't make a difference to being able to run without blue temp plugged in. What did - broken cable to idle switch! once reconnected we could run without blue temp, and then time the whole car. Top tip - if your PB engine won't run with out blue temp, check wires to idle switch. (its a shame RJ's guide doesn't say this explicitly, but it does say to check the broken wires as a general point)
Next problem. Maf sensor has gone, CO level is at 11% and the garage can't reduce it (needs to be around 3.5%), or get value at all to change on the maf sensor. I've been advised at 215k old, I think its' time for a replacement. They did say, 'sometimes to get a car through it's MOT they will drill the Maf sensor', but I'm keen to buy another one which they encourage me to do, or send it off to be refurbed. Question is Where from?
CO level fluctuated but levelled around 3.5%. MAF sensor had a slightly stiff CO screw thread, but we adjusted it down from 5% to 3.5%, runs way better than the previous one at 15%
