Just had a day trip to Bristol from Northampton in my valver, cruised at 90 all day, but loads of wind noise from around the doors, more than I remember, from previous mk 2s. Guess I am too used to modern cars, or could it be door seals even though they look ok?

Mines fairly quiet in that region. Can you see a marginally wide gap at the top of the door?

Will have a closer look they look quite tight, but the car lived in Cyprus for first 27 years so maybe the heat has done for the seals.

could be the seal around the glass, mine have split in half where the glass touches at the top and I assume thats where a lot of the noise comes from

    Hi John

Aah I think that could be it, I bet the new ones cost a fortune from vw heritage, will have a look now.

    Thanks

my idea was buy a rubber felt lined strip and glue it inside the seal all round the glass perimeter, but liek so many of them this idea is way down on the Things To Do list so will probably never happen lol

It's right hooker KR engine, no sunroof but factory air con instead. The sun has taken it's toll on door rubbers.
