Has anyone out there in 16v land used the wrist pins from the 8v 'pb' coded engine on a 2.0 16v engine...they appear to be 8% lighter and i can't believe they are much weaker. Whilst it wont make a massive difference...it must help with engine responce.

what 2.0 engine is it you're looking at, 9a or abf? is the wrist pin the bit that joins the piston to the rod? ([:$]) if so then it will fit ok if you're looking at a 9a but abf used a thicker pin

9a..... it does fit...i just figured that is was a cheapish mod if you had a 'pb' code engine spare. It surprizes me that vw increased the size of the 1.8 wrist pin as it looks plenty man enough. 'Gudgeon 'pin is the more common name.....but i dont know how to spell that!

Keep an eye on the lengths of the pins, some of them vary so a pin that is too long will not allow the circlips to fit in the piston.

Tall blocks have 21mm pins, short blocks use a 20mm pins.
