hey everybody..im in a build off with a mate at work,im renovating a 88 8v golf gti and hes renovating a golf gti 90 16v..hes winning at the mo but both his fuel pumps have died was sold a mk3 pump and tank and told they would be a good substitute...after fitting them the car starts but cuts out straight away the guy he bought it off gave him a different one but that was the same. the only thing we can think of is if the pump isnt the exact same pressure for his 16v(5 bar we think)then this would cause the problem..any ideas[:s]

thanks for the reply..does this mean the mk3 pump and tank isnt going to work at all or is there a mk3 pump that will give the same pressure?..

it not going work with just the mk3 pump

i take it he is trying to run with just the intank mk3 pump

it would have been easier to just get the two new or second hand pump for a 16v mk2
