Read a few times that the rear engine mount needs lowering/shortening when carrying out a 24v v6 swap, for bonnet clearance presumably. So can anyone enlighten me as to the process, its a mk3 style subframe so the big chunky rubber mount that drops in, not the mk2 type. Thanks in advance, D.
If it’s like this undo the bolt on the bottom pull apart then cut the shaft down. I think I cut 20mm and also the rubber
That's what I guessed at looking at pictures of the mount, don't have a physical one here to play with so thought I'd ask. Thanks @Vinnie , so the outer metal 'can' stays as is? Or chop that too. It's an r32 into mk3, seems very close to bonnet, cars 40 miles away at moment.
the alternative is cut the top flange off the subframe cup and shorten it that way. interestingly the corrado rear cup is 5mm shorter than the golf one, though dont know if thats enough to help with the 24v installation
