Anyone got any idea how much a gallon of petrol weighs? Or a gallon of diesel, assuming it is slightly more (?) I have a good reason for wanting to know...!
But that'll be an American gallon, which is 3.3 litres (or something). Our's is 4.54609 litres/gallon. So water is 1kg a litre, petrol is 720grams. 720 * 4.54609 = 3.27Kg. There you go.
it varies slightly dependent on fuel. in fact, the fuel suppliers to F1 are currently working on trying to make the fuel they use lighter...as that gives a performance advantage (less weight to carry around). of course, its supposed to be pump fuel, so it'll filter down to the stuff we get.
