Hi chaps, just a quickie, Was wiring in some decent infinity kappas in the back and some macroms in the front of my mk3, just wanted to check, there is a green/blue wire and red/brown wire, the red/brown is positive yes?! It didnt sound like reverse polarity when i had it wired up this way, was at its most bass-ey... but didnt know whether it was just my ears playing up
Anybody got an answer on this?! As suspected, the fronts are different to the back, so can anyone tell me what is positive in the back- blue/green wire or red/brown wire?.. And what is positive in the front - red/grey wire or blue/grey wire?.. Thanks
here is the correct colour coding for a 94 onwards mk3 if you need earlier i have that aswell 1994 Volkswagen Golf III Stereo Wiring Constant 12V+ Red/White Switched 12V+ Orange Ground Brown Illumination Gray/Blue Dimmer n/a Antenna Left Front Front Speakers 6 1/2" Doors Left Front (+) Blue/Black Left Front (-) Orange/Black Right Front (+) Red/White Right Front (-) Orange/White Rear Speakers 6 1/2" Rear Door Left Rear (+) Red/Light Green Left Rear (-) Orange/Black Right Rear (+) Blue/Light Green Right Rear (-) Orange/Red
Hi TROUBLESTARTER ,i know this is old but for the front speakers: Left front neg. is orange/black You also have Left rear neg. is orange/black Trying to get mine sorted ,but I'm in SA. My rear door wires are like u say above,as well as front right. For front left i also have blue/black but orange (brown/tan here)/blue. For some reason my fronts are not working. I spliced extra temporary test wires into the wires close to the radio plug and connected to a speaker and it plays. But they used to work, now im a bit lost
replace 'orange' with 'brown' for future reference, any speaker wire with brown tracer is the earth. if bypassing the original wiring gets the speaker going then you have a break somewhere along the line, I'd start in the big door plugs at the A pillar might have corrosion in the pin sections or the plugs have come away at the back
