Hey there. This is H-pattern dogbox, but I do have a sequential shifter fitted. It's basically a device that converts sequential shifting into H moves. Doesn't cost a fortune (~1000 EUR). If anyone's interested ...
hmm...is it just me or is the passangers side door look like its flexing...you can actually see a gap at points....
Hello. There is a sequential shifter that convert sequential movement to H pattern. It's 100% mechanical. If everything fails, this still works Second is pneumatic paddle system. It uses a compressor and pneumatic cylinders to shift. There's also a throttle blipper that helps with clutchless downshifts. There's an ECU that controlls everything and prevents the driver to shift too high. There's also one cool feature, gear queues. If i'm going in 6th and I know I will have to downshift to 1st in the next corner or chicane, I just press down paddle 5 times while still going straight and holding full throttle. When I start to brake, system shifts down automatically when revs are perftect to down shift. This is not new, F1 had this like 10 years ago.. but still. It's nice to have this in old VW. It pretty cool DIY project
This sounds very cool and complex. Is there anyway you could show us some pictures of how its done? or maybe a DIY?
I have one of SQS sequential shifters and as soon as I build 02M/02Q dog box I will run it and will look into fitting something similar to enable paddle change but not as clever as it will be used only for upshifts on drag strip
Is there anything particular you had in mind? I was thinking of putting out complete ECU with instructions on how to wire such system to any car. I'm now building 4th generation of this system and as soon as it's ready, I will post some pics and details. If you guys are interested, we can work something out
