Hi Guys, I sold my MK5 Gti earlier in the year for a seat Exeo (family car) and skoda citigo (my work car) and really missed the mk5, I had some money burning a hole in my pocket so I picked this up a in May, it was sitting in a tractor garage for a year so it was in need of some TLC, any how fast forward to today and I have tucked my citigo in the garage and just drive this, I love the retro originality, its completely original. I have gone OTT on the photos but it took ages to get it this tidy. Good Bye old friend
Looks great, is that the original paint? Exterior plastic trim looks good too, have you replaced it or just used some cleaning stuff on there?
Thanks for the kudos, yeah it's all original one owner from new he said he used to take the trim off every so often to clean underneath. To be honest I have used ag bumper restore it gives it a real deep black look to the skirts.
I like your car alot. Not a lot of the early small bumper oakies about now. And certainly not in that condition.
Lovely original condition. As above that's the best small bumper Oak I've seen. I apologise for this in advance, but looking at the number plate I can't help seeing some marker pen additions et voila... F' l\lONCE If you're looking to de mist the spots have a look here and also read a few posts on.
I think I'll just change the number plate to f1 nice. Cheers for the reminder about the lamps I read the link, I have no faith in rice absorbing the damp but I'll swirl a kitchen towel around the inside of the lamp and see how long it lasts. Do some people just leave rice in their head lamps then?
I have a couple the car just looks a little dull, the biggest sparkly change is definitely the interior which was tired. old drivers seat: notice the ancient phone holder trim was very grey
Never touched rice for cleaning in case it gets stuck. Fastglass and similar glass cleaners evaporate pretty quickly once the bulk is wiped out. With a bit of lingering vapour I wouldn't be in a hurry to energise the spots though just in case. You do need to put a bit of pressure on the back of them as you fold the tabs back over. That would finish it off a treat on the front end. EDIT: Wow that was a nice find then, were the wheels like that as well?
I'll have to have a look at doing that I just thought it was a case of loosening the bulbs and letting the air dry them out. The wheels are untouched basically I have just sorted the sills out and given it a clean on the outside besides the new seat the interior is as I found it well I bought a cassette deck at a boot sale and took out the amplifier and what was left of the hands free kit.
It's not moisture just a milky residue that needs removing, but it really needs the lamp holders removing for better access as per the youtube video. Amazing for lacquered wheels.
Its a mk2 golf campaign as opposed to a 1 in 10m edition. Still has original wheels also. Tidy up all the bits, keep it std and youll never lose your money on it
I think the campaign model was just a mk1 edition, the 1 in 10 million is written across the service and manual pouch.
There was a mk2 campaign also. All campaigns had 1 in 10million service booklets Heres another http://www.pistonheads.com/classifi...-gti-mk1-mk2/vw-golf-mk2-gti-campaign/1430003 also, are you missing the back window surround decal? Hard to make out in the pics
