Do you have any plans to release some of the parts that you have made for this car to the general public?
Here's Some great shots from photographer Nick Williams at NWVT.co.uk Here's the Managing Director of Forge Motorsport himself Peter Miles
Great to see the car, and meet some of the team at the show! Looks like a fantastic piece of engineering... lots of them in fact!
Just seems like one big marketing campaign. It needs to compete in some form or another to be a proper "win on Sunday, sell on Monday" for Forge, otherwise it just looks fancy.
You assume wrongly. Forge will do demo runs and sprints with it. Expect to see it on the 1/4 mile at Inters, among others.
Saw this Friday.. The best car I've ever seen! Loved it. I think they have plans to go to the ring with it for some sprint or other plus more he did tell me but I was finding it hard to concentrate! :-D The splitter is great too IMO
Wow!! Liking that alot! I do think the front spoiler is a little too big though! But what a great MK1
Some nice engineering- Will you get away with exposing the rear tyres so much on UK closed wheel events?
That rear wing angle seems far too steep, surely it`s just like an airbrake with that huge angle of attack ? I just can`t see how that will add downforce Loving the quality of the fabrication, but I have to agree with the previous posters, functional or not, that front spoiler looks a bit OTT even to me ! lol
So if you fancy seeing this heading up a hillclimb I suggest you get yourself along to The Retro Rides Gathering at Prescott Hillclimb this year : http://www.facebook.com/RetroRidesGathering I for one am very much looking forward to see it
Already bought my ticket I for one think it's great that there are companies out there making this sort of stuff for kids to hang pictures of on their bedroom walls and go and see at shows. If you really are an enthusiast then how can you possibly complain about someone building an awesome car like this? Even if it doesn't get driven to destruction it is giving our hobby more exposure and possibly even further raising the values of these old cars. Keep up the great work Forge, looking forward to seeing it shoot up the hill in August.
Because surprisingly I do not think it is awesome. It isn't just 'someone', this is a business, building a demo car / advert on wheels. Berg cup 'inspired' / "Because Racecar". This is more likely to influence scene kids to add some motorsport inspired styling than actually build a proper track / race machine IMO. Why would you want the value of the vehicles to increase? Being affordable is part of the attraction.
