I have 02a with 02J polo selector and shift box in mk3. What parts do I need for 02S conversion? 02S selector? 02S 6speed shift box? Can I keep polo 02J shift box housing (it bolts on ideally in mk3)?
first thing you got to do is decide what set of ratios you want, then do some research to see if you can find a suitable box. If not then you'll need to grab a couple to have all the gears you need for your final build to get it in you will have a few problems to overcome, the 02S case is missing 2 of the holes for the gearbox bracket as well as one of the holes for the front bracket. You can make up a couple of conversion brackets to work around it but there is also no hole for the speedo sender, so your best bet is sent it off to hotgolf/martin emment/gas n gears to have the casings swapped to solve all of these issues in one go. If you fancy an LSD now would be the time Once all of the above is done the 02A/J shifter swaps right in so you can keep your 6N polo gear selector

Is 02S selector tower is better design than 02J? I don't know which to use.. I got 02S gearbox without cables, but polo selector tower is early type cable ends....02S is newer type
once the 02a/j casings are swapped over to convert it you use the 02a/j type tower. assuming you mean the 6n polo 02j type shifter you can swap the cable ends from ball to pin fixing to match the L selector and weight on the tower you end up using
I have used both towers late 02J/02S back to back. I use a MK4 shift linkage from a TDI. There was no differrence in shift quality. However hotgolf or Mart of Gas n Gears recomended to use the 02S shift tower in my hybrid gearbox after a bit of beta testing. I use an 8N TT short throw on my conversion so that means later chucky common ends. Note, the 02S tower does clock the throw lever clocwise a tad. My Gas n Gears hybrid box box has done a few thousand miles, so I can recommend that set up on the basis it does work.
I can't close 02J casing because 02S shift fork jaws are longer than 02j...I am confused... Maybe grinding shift fork will help
Speedometer was working, but when I have done 6 speed conversion it stopped working. Is possible 02S differencial gear doesn't match with speedo gear?
02s diff doesn’t have a speedo drive gear fitted. If you use the 02s tower you need to shorten the tab to fit in the forks.
