Good day yesterday at Anglesey again for MG Car Club Ty Croes Sprint. Travelled up Sat night and got into a B+B before waking up Sun morning to mist and fog.....Down to the circuit and sure enough it was just a touch damp. Six cars in class with us so potential for a good points score. A 996 Carrera, a double driven TVR, and a couple of Scimitars. Club Porsche and Club Reliant were in da house.

Was looking forward to seeing how car compared to pre-modification status when we were there start if April.

Course was big International GP circuit which is just fantastic.

    PB times to beat were 2.13 / 47.21 / 79.46 / 100.52 (64ft, split 1, split 2, end).

P1: 99.81. Thought I was taking it steady but kinda got carried away snd set a PB straight out if the box without using launch control. A bit slippery tbh in places.

P2: 98.11. Bit faster again, trying to be smooth.

Time to get cracking now for timed runs. Launch activated.

T1: 97.64. Good run. 2.88 secs better than my old PB and about 7 secs faster than 996 in second place in class. Still felt that there was more to be had.

    Lunch.

T2: Ready for a good run. Started well and was going great until 996 spun ahead of me on final corner and red flagged it....bummer, that was a good run, probably a 96. So car was pretty hot after run and sat in pitlane letting it cool down. When cool went back to line and went again. Into first corner and very little front grip, same in corner 2, front tyres had overheated. Back out of it. 108.88 cruise back to pits.

T3: Not really fussed any more as were quite a long way ahead. 101.86.

So finished day with a new PB by 2.88 secs, and a class win about 7 seconds ahead of 996. Car went well but Toyo R888Rs compound GG overheat quite quickly on a 1400kg car.....

Nice one. Must be good to have something that you really just have to sit in and drive, not be always rebuilding or repairing .

Great result, Love to see the look on the face of the 996 driver. He wasn't even close. Can they move you to a different class or give you some success ballast ? .

Its good. But I’m not totally sure it will do the job. SR8 was 13 secs per lap faster at Anglesey. Thats a tough act to follow.

Enjoy reading these reports and following the progress on vehicle prep to result in the success written about on here.
You are upsetting those porkas already. Sounds like a cracking MQB chassis you got there!

Brilliant effort so far Rob. I have to say I'm quite surprised at the pace of the TT you have there. Proving to be a very capable weapon. Can't see it being able to beat an SR8 though. Different kettle of fish altogether.

Cheers. Its fairly good almost out of the box, but there are gains to be had with brakes and suspension compliance - stock is stiff enough but its a bit crude in progression. Got brake mods underway and expected soon and talking to a couple of damper places to see what could be done. Needs larger shift paddles also as easy to miss. Tyres take a beating and have to be managed to prevent overheat. Fastest time at curby was after an hour cool down......so might try something a touch harder. Good level of performance for a car with AC, heated seats etc :)

SR8 was unreal, but took a lot of running. Thats why its gone.

I'm loving the whole hairdresser thing - when you turn up at a sprint folks don't even give you a second look. Its proper stealthy. Plain white TT. When the times come in you can see the disbelief in their faces. And its only going to get faster......

    There's a Curby 26 in that car ;)

    Looks like fun!

Did you get anywhere with the dsg and using the shift lever in the opposite direction?
