hi all been a while,ad plenty of trouble free motoring until now 1.8 auto 1990 golf gu engine ,serviced her 4K ago new leads ,rotor, plugs (gapped properly),new battery When you turn her over starter kicks in but does not fire until you let go of key ,the wife said it took her 5 attempts tonight forr her to fire up,don’t know if it was just look when letting go of key when I did it, Any thoughts on where to start thankyou
sounds ignition switch related to me. do you notice clock warning lights go dead while its cranking and come back on when key released? if you unplug switch get a thick bit of wire and loop it from the black to the red to switch on ignition, then another bit from red to red/black to crank it over. if it fires right up like this, new switch!
Rj when you say ignition switch do you mean black box located under driver side scuttle in engine bay
Hi all trying to remove turn signal cluster, removed 3 screws multi plugs off, can’t get top vowel off, cluster will not remove because of hazard switch
It is tight but you should be able to lift top half of surrounding up enough, but think there are tabs each side that hold the two half's together, mine is off at the mo will have a look tomorrow when home. It is tight but does come off
See picture above, there are three tabs on the lower half so you need a sharp tug to pull the bottom half off, the the top half stays where it is but just lift it up and bend it up a bit, pull the stalk assembly towards you a bit enough to tilt it down, I assume you have undone the two screws that also hold the two halves together. Then 3 block connectors and mfa connector need to be disconnected.
