Just pick up a dfq gearbox there's a tiny bit of play on the push rod not sure how much is too much so got a seal kit with new push rod and bush I take I can tap the bush out towards were the engine would be and tap the new one in to same depth .
This site is a great source of info., not sure if this particular page is what you're wanting to know, but good to save for another time! http://www.brokevw.com/020seal.html
you can slide a 'thing' down the input shaft which is small enough to go down but big enough not to fit thru the bush, then use a long thing to hammer it out. i used a small bolt and an old pushrod for this job
