Hi. I am Paul and I've just introduced myself on the Hello thread. I'd like to upgrade my stock 5-stud 6.5x16 monza wheels from my 07 polo gti to 17" versions of the same wheel. I have been told conflicting info on whether the 17" monzas from golf gtis actually fit the polo gti. The VW dealership says no, and refuses to sell any surplus 17" monzas they have anyway. However, a spoecialist in Birmingham disagrees and says he has a set that will fit. I am not interested in replicas of the new golf gti wheels (monza with black inside instead of all silver). I'd like the original VW ones. So... Is it possible to stick some original 17" VW gti monza wheels on the 07 Polo gti? And is private sale the only way to get hold of them is they do fit my car? THanks in advance for any help. my info: 4 6.5x16 original gti monza wheels with continental rear tyres and sumo front tyres, all 205/45zr16 83w
No. Yours is 5x100PCD and the Mk5 Gti wheels are 5x112 so they wont fit. Any 17in versions of them will be replica's. The "Specialist" probably just smells a sale.
Thanks for your prompt reply. It's a bit depressing but I guess I'll give up on that crusade! Thanks again.
i looked into the 17 in TT comps. very nice looking and they fit. The guy is asking for 450 for the set of shiny polished tt comps with tyres. It seems like a lot for a set, altho he said they were in near perfect condition. He also said he'd give me 100 for my 4 wheels/tyres. Is this a good price? Seems v expensive to me.
