As title really. The car is actually a 1992.

Can I run a diagnostic on it?
Which Vagcom can I use and where does it plug in?

    Cheers!!!

didn't think i would be able to. [:s]

my problem is it wont start! I have fuel going through, a spark in the correct order and air.
It turns over fine but wont fire. I have checked the coil the HT leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm, plugs and now Im stuck.

It all happened since the earth strap from the body to the alternator failed. The car wouldn't start, I noticed the strap had broken so made a temporary one from a jump lead and it started first time. I then took the temporary strap off (my mate needed it back) and proceeded to drive home.

a mile into the journey the car cut out and has never started since.

Somebody had mentioned it could be the ECU but I have no means of checking it. I have tried the forum before and nobody was sure and the Haynes manual was pretty useless.

I really need it working now, please help!!!

it does have very basic diagnostic you can make up a 'code reader' with a couple wires, a switch and an led. i had a diagram somewhere, the diagnostics plug is under the dash passenger side. i think you might be able to use vag-com on it too, but you may need to mod the cable as per trev16vs posts on the subject a while back.

you might have killed the ecu driving it without that earth strap, does the pump prime with the ignition or just run?

    Cool cheers for that,

Yeah when i turn the key it primes which tells me the ECU is fine?!?!?!

Do you know where that diagram might be to make up a code reader?

    Thanks
