1.8T 20v Cupra into 16v mk2 does it = go

    Can i use a cupra 1.8T 20v 180hp 2003 model engine into my 1990 mk2 16v golf, as i hope to obtain one with 10k ?


    Apart from wiring loom what alterations are required [:D]


    Jus wanna pee off the Ford cossy muppets :lol:

    Yes you can fit the engine, but apparently the 6 speed box is a pig to fit and needs new driveshafts, mounts etc. You'll be better off with a cable change mk3 or similar unless your 16v gearbox is relatively new.
    You'll need on top of an ECU & wiring, new turbo & intercooler pipes, new rad, an intercooler, and assorted ather bits and bobs. There are some good articles & links on this forum if you do some searching around.

    6 speed box isnt that bad a job and worth it imo ;) we used a leon cupra lump in my corrado :)

    how difficult is the 6 speed box to fit?

    What parts are required if i dont want to have custom driveshafts made up?

    There's one up for grabs that i was thinking of turning down due to the hassle i thought it would be to fit.

    Very importantly!! does it to 60mph in 2nd gear?

    16s dtm 5 spoke just had them reconditioned by fat wheels referbishment isle of pooe (sheppey)

    guess thats why companies charge 6k for the 1.8T supply and conv!!
