    Hi all
Has anyone change there standard manifold of there 1.8t? My turbo went pop [xx(] in November just before the car went into the garage for some major wireing work and new dash. When taking the turbo off last week the guys found cracking in the manifold, turbo exhaust housing and downpipe. After looking this up on the net I found that after the 1.8T's have had some modding done to them (ie chip) the stardard manifold cracks under the extra heat.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? and if so did you fit a standard manifold back on or did you go for a performance one? I found this on ebay has anyone brought one?

I am sticking to a k03s turbo and most the over manifolds I found are for Garrett Or IHI conversions aprt from the one shown on the link.

    any help would be great.

XS power/SS Autochrome is just crap. Their turboes fall apart, and the welding on the manifold is crap. Usually mig'ed with tig over so it looks better. Lots junk in the collector area on the manifolds too

They might have become better, but why risk it?

From this tread: actually the welds are fine. the material is too thin to support it for any great period of time

    Very informative tread

don't buy stainless on ebay unless you want to send it back.
I bought one with an pretty good feedbck history, peice of ****!
wasn't welded properly, joins were squint, badly designed and poorly welded inside.

go to someone who has had one done and run it without probs. enough people here have had 1.8t stanless mani's made.

i had a quote from Designadubs, reputable and have excellent references on here.
