right guys bit of a weird one my mate has a Jplate gti with the 1.9 volkspeed engine conversion basically it had head gasket done due to running on 3 cylinders and overheating ect but since the head was done it blows oil out of the exhaust ive just been to look at it myself and have checked the following breathers all see ok so signs of oil in the intake at all compression test 1. 230 2. 180 3. 220 4. 225 2 is low compared to the others so was thinking rings? but when looking at the head its leaking oil down the front where the big oil way is on the front . so my line of thought is could it be the head wasnt tightened down correctly or did they re use the old bolts?? if you run your finger around the tail pipe its neat oil lol any advice the guy that did the gasket had dissapeared of the face of the planet the head was skimmed but not pressure tested the engine runs sweet as a nut just blows oil
hmmmm i would say rings but its a bit of a ***** if your unsure about the quality of the work someone else has done
put a spoonful of oil down each bore and repeat the test, if #2 comes up significanly then yep the rings have gone. Could also be whoever did the stems seals messed up the installation of one or more, though on mine i had 1 knackered seal thanks to a faulty install and it didnt leak enough to spit oil out the back. Smoked like a goodun and it was well oily round the zaust port on the head though
