Hello, picking up our Golf on Thursday but it only has 1 Key (has a flip out key and remote control for locking built in) now VW want 125 for a new one , they have to program it etc .. surely there is cheaper alternative .. any advice anyone?? thanks Chris
Cheapest way to do it would be: Ebay for flip key = approx 25 New blade cut (there is an ebay seller that does this. Can be done via digital photo) = 10 Programming in of radio part to unlock doors can be done at home = 0 but unfortunately you will deffo need to get the top part of the ket adapted to your immobiliser 35-45ish. So ya looking at at least 75ish for the cheapest route unfortunately.
Thanks for the Advice, I'm currently scanning round Ebay now .. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Hows that done then?? c
1. Insert the working key into the ignition lock and switch to the ON position without starting the engine. 2. Using the new key, manually lock your car from the outside. 3. Press either LOCK or UNLOCK on the remote (to be programmed) once, then wait 2 seconds. 4. Press either button again once. 5. Switch off ignition and remove key from ignition. 6. You should hear a beep as a confirmation that the programming is completed (not all cars will beep, but I'm sure the indicators flash or something). Note, remember to leave the window wound down. so you can get to the ignition. Edited by: harry_the_cake
They were flipblade type keys for older VW's and came with a central locking interface which remote on the key would operate. I think it was Lloyd who was looking at importing them.
fukin ell is that all it takes to program a key lets nick some cars anyone got the ebay users cotact details. need one for my MK4
I'm not sure if i would trust an e-bay locksmith have a cut of my key! Can u not get a normal lock smith, or a good one to do this for you, just for security reasons?!?!
Does a remote locking key also have the transponder immobiliser device in it? My seat has only one key which is the remote one....if I get a key cut can I programme my key?
sorry to push off the subject but can anyone give me advice on how to get my mk2 golf key sorted, iv lost my complete set. I am looking to buy a blank key off ebay but where do I go from there ? any help appreciated
Phone up a dealer as i think they maybe able to cut you a key...no imobiliser so its not that expensive...anything more than 20 and there taking you up the garden path
if anyone wants a flip key I have one at home that i was going to butcher to use on my mk3 but never got round to it. pm me if your interested.
