Ah yeah my new mk2, i blame Deako i liked his so much and was tempted to buy it, i bought one simular. Love the idea of a 16v Limted engine with 300bhp , not a 1.8t for a change[:D]

Damm the Cursed affliction with buying VWs, still i have sold one (well its not gone yet tho)

I shall be watching Keiths and Trevs cars closely and hunting for info on how to machine my pistons for the 16v head and keeping an eye out for a correct manifold.

If you order a BBM kit, go for the front mount alternator option (sits under the charger on custom brackets) I used a mk4 polo diesel alt on mine.

Having said that, with yours being lhd you could mount the alternator at the back of the block like the VAG limited engines, belt run`s a bit on the long side though..
