So then........, as long as there is more low down torque on the 2.0 16v short block than on my current 1.8 8v, this would seem to be the best option for me. Do you reckon this will be acivic type r beater?:)

for top speed, i think you'll have trouble building a civic r beater from a mk1 with any engine because of the aerodynamics. those civics are 140mph+.

    i'd guess you'd beat it to a tonne in a 2.0 16v though.

Hi Ramblin, I've heard the 1600 is a very smooth engine, get the fukker blueprinted to redline at 8500 and go and mix it up with the big bikes:lol:

I want to add my 2 pennies worth ass well .

I heard that the best 16v conversion would be to use the 2.0l 16v bottom end and the 1.8 16 head . Was told that the 1.8 16v head flows better [:s] [:s]

not really, bit ,more top end little less mid range not worth swapping it over really, however a ported head will make a big difference

the 1.8 head has slightly larger exhaust ports iirc, but its better to have the 2.0 head ported as there is more metal to play with.

How much does it cost to have the head ported on a 2.0 16v

Depends, there are several states of tune. Probably ranging from stage 1 - 3. About 500+ probably.

Do the various stages make the engine more cammy, and nibble away at the low end torque?
