hello all, i've read the 2l threads and someone said something about the need to fit 16v fuel metering stuff to a 2l 8v conversion?
is this to keep up with the extra airflow the bigger engine will use?
what bits do i need to change from the normal 8v kjet?
    much appreciated

a 1.6 8v metering head was fitted to my 2.1 8v as it strangely gives more fuel?

others also confirmed that the same was used on the vw racing cars

how odd. do i stick with the air flow flappy meter from my original setup though.. i was concerned that with the engine sucking more air (cos it's bigger etc..) my 1.8 8v flappy meter would reach its full open stop while the engine was still hungry for more, leading to underfuelling at the top end because it's essentially sucking unmetered air. that's why it seems sensible to use at least the air flapper from the 16v, as that's designed to meter more air and is, to look at at least, bigger. does anyone have any max air flow rate figures for the different air meters?

it does seem strange that a 1.6 metering head would give more fuel. did it have the fuel pressure increased?

ta cerips, that's quite interesting. so it's all about how much fuel the unit can deliver, rather than which engine it was originally for.
how does control pressure alter all this though? if my standard air flapper has a higher control pressure behind it, does that alter the range of air flow through which it will operate correctly? i understand i can do the WUR mod using a 16v WUR to increase the control pressure..

There are cars pushing 200 bhp on the std 16v metering head. The 1.6 one was seen as being the best of the 8v options, but I'm sceptical about it's value as a replacement for a 16v one.

so how should the control pressure/system pressure be set up? is this fairly crucial?

I dont think he is replacing a 16v one as it is listed in 1st post as an 8v.

so 1.6 8v type as you, me & others mention should be best
