I have bought a 16v KR engine from a breakers for 400 and started to remove bits so i could clean it up before putting it in my MK1. I found that the head has been ported + polished and the cam cover gaskets look quite new, it could be possible that the cams are not standard, is there any markings i could look for that will tell me. If they are standard what would be a good cam kit to buy for it. :)

if they have numbers like 220. then you may have schricks.

Cat cams are a viable choice.. (race winners use them in Eurpoean racing.. but not heard of over here.)

Good prices and good choice of specs available too.

Standard KR cams have notches cut out of the bottom of each cam lobe.

Yeah they have bits cut out at the bottom of each cam, must be standard. The car is going to be used as a track day/second car, so with me not going to drive it in traffic but not wanting to change to solid lifters, what would be the most sensible choise of duration, what would the valve to piston clearence be?
    Thanks ;)
