if anyone has ever turboed a 16v mk2 golf could they explain how to do it. i want a turbo that aint gonna give too much lag and quite a big boost. where could i source the turbo from and what other bits will i need to use etc.? be greatful of your help people but bare in mind, my wedding is leaving me with very little cash to play with. i've heard you can use a turbo off pretty much any turboed motor.

it's not cheap, the manifold and management are the most tricky bits,

g60 management is the cheapest option, a lot of hassle, consider getting a 20vt motor instead unless you are good at welding up manifolds

i thought turbos ran on exhaust gases.i didn't think you had to have a g40 management system. what car can i get the turbo from.

g60 management is what you want, or 20vt

an IHI turbo could make 300bhp+ if you had the right pistons, manifold and management, easiest way is to sell it and buy a 1.8t motor, otherwise you are looking for hard to find parts really.

If you can't make what you need, improvise it from other parts, and have the knowledge to make it all work then you will spend a fortune converting your own engine.

well i've never really dealt with turbos before. a 20vt lump is gonna cost a bomb but if i was gonna do it how easy would it be? i'm really struggling with deciding what to do but i know i definitely want to go turbo.

Try reading the entire "Forced induction" and "Hybrid/swaps" forums at www.vwvortex.com - then you'll have more of an idea of how to go about it and what you want to do.
