1715cc VW-Chrysler 8v engine

What's the height of them? Presume still 220mm back then?

 

Just had a quick rough measure, and yes, it appears they are 220mm.

 

I guess your diesel blocks have the two oil drain oil as oppose as earlier blocks
And if I m not wrong the diesel worked with small bores so might be the same water galery
But with thicker wall because the bore is smaller
Been trying to post a comparison between the 1.6 and H block but my bloody laptop won't post it

 

Most tuners made 1847 cc engines (82.5 mm) and some made 1869 cc (83 mm)

 

Agreed for the 82.5 mm
From what I have been reading the 83 mm bore was doable but risky on a 1.6 block as the wall thicknerss wasn't great
And For the H block safely doable but if any rebuilt was needed they had to scrap the block
As it was the last boundary

This was on H - EG blocks , I agree very much the limit
