Managed to get hold of a "half decent" local GTI in Tornado Red. Bought knowing had been sitting in barn for max of 7 years. All brake related parts pretty much destroyed with corrosion. Engine seized. However not all doom and gloom.
Lad I got it off also threw in spare airbox, front and rear lights, couple of plastic trims and spare boot.

    Engine and running gear
New engine and gearbox for 130 (Includes alternator, starter motor and 95% of a K-Jet system).
    Brakes,wheels and tyresr
Priced discs and pads all round and 2 rear wheel bearings for 128.25 for OE parts from Unipart on my trade cash account.
Needs 2 new front tyres, priced at 50 each for Dunlop.
BBS RA in dcent condition can get sandblasted and resprayed from a chap at a the local Volvo dealership bodyshop for 30 per wheel.
    Bodywork
Needs offside rear wheel arch repaired (Borderline nothing left) along with a small hole in the body work just forward of the arch. 20 + postage from VW heritage.
Rust patches on both passenger and drivers door and rear quarter panels and roof. (very small yet very annoying.
Old boot lid has nothing left where the number plate lights are luckily have spare, just needs painted.
Trims faded all around, no damage or scratches still has red pinstripes.
battery tray has ptretty large hole but will be repaired when left hand wheel is off to make it easier.
    Interior
Slight 5mm tear on drivers lower seat bolster.
Drivers side door card not attached heavily damaged :(
Gearknob is original "golfball" however it is missing the gear position sticker.
    Trims generally faded.

Will need advice on repairing and respraying the small rust patches on the rear quarter panels, doors and the roof. If anyone has done this before please shout out.

Pictures to follow ASAP. Will be making diary of what gets done to the car. Starting with the engine swap this Saturday.
