I am seriously tempted by this engine conversion after seeing what a good drive a Mk2 VR6 is. The engine will run on DTA to save on wiring hassles but what other parts will i need?.
Does anyone else have this engine in their MK2 and what sort of power does it produce?

    Cheers

PhatVR6 is running an R32 lump at the moment in his Corrado. It's
causing him all sorts of hassle (VVT and such). I beleive he's using
std VR6 ecu 'cus he can't decode the one for the R32 (as yet) - take
that with a pinch of salt though, I may be wrong. If you're running DTA
    it shouldn't matter though, no?

Check out his recent 'Bad day at the strip' (or something) thread in
Vehicle Chit chat, and his members motors thread (it's about 30 pages
    long!).

The 24V engine transplant shouldn't be a problem but the 4 motion 4WD will be.

The system which controls the Haldex is wired in with all the other electrical control systems in the car... i.e ABS, Traction control, Engine ECU etc.

If you are serious about 4WD, then I'd consider a VR6 syncro setup from a MK3 rather than the 4 Motion setup.

I don't know of one person to have a Haldex running as per factory yet... the only way I've seen it running is with an on/off switch.

No I wont be installing the 4wd. Its just the engine install im interested in. I just need to know what other parts will be needed apart from the engine and dta.

    Cheers

can't you run it on standard 12v VR6 loom from a golf or corrado?
Just don't use a passat loom like the one on Deako's, was a real pain to workout and seperate the engine loom from the lighting loom etc (is all in one on a passat) [xx(]

I'll have to wind my uncle up then, he thinks his Golf V6 4mo is 30v and
keeps winding me up saying it's got nearly twice the valvage of my
    2.0 16v

Funny thing is, he can't shake me in a race either [:$]

Look on the Corrado forum G60renshaw is just finishing off a 24v V6 conversion in his Corrado, 2wd and factory style install, you can't fail to be impressed.

Usual cable change set up (pedal box, clutch m/c,shifter) 12v vr gearbox with mk2 100mm shafts, modded engine mounts as the lump needs to sit even lower that the 12v,(cant run the car mega low [:^(]) corrado vr rad and fans,mk2 power steering set up (unsure what p/s pump to usewith the 24v).

i think thats it....... also instead of modding the mounts ive heard of people spacing the sub frame out from the body.... cant comment on that tho as ive never tryed it.

u don't need to but it would make parking/driving a lot easier epically as the engine is so heavy, valver loves it on his mk2 vr.
