With the goings on at work I managed to get the old guy (82) who works for himself but at our premises to let me collect some unwanted stuff.
Normally they would have paid some guy with a van 150 - 250 to collect it then give most of it away to some pikey who is supposed to take all the scrap... much to my annoyance.

Anyway I booked this afternoon off, hired a van this morning and set off to York with my former workmate who fancied a day off from drinking beer at home.

The guy said there would be twenty monitors and maybe some pc's...

Haha, see below. Took while 7.30pm to get back and get it all unloaded.

And to top it off this wasn't the stuff we went for but some "extra" stuff so i've to go back next Wed. with a bigger van for that.

Well I was expecting some "tat" to be honest but the pc's are P3/700's etc. Some P2's that I'll split for the bits, some of the monitors might be wonky, one is labelled faulty but there's about half and half between 15" and 17"/20"'ers.
A few lasers, some keyboards, mice, a notebook but my mates got that to check out, some bits and bobs etc.

Monitors are no good for Ebay as now I've to pay full price for carriage they are too expensive to ship.

Can't beat driving vans though, nice torquey diesel with just 3K on the clock. [:D]

wasnt london you collected them from was it? My company is in the process of doing that. its cheaper to throw them out than to dispose of them legally. Charities want them, but then you have to deliver them, which costs you more money than claypole probably took...

Nope was in my first post, York.

If I'd the contacts I'd like to do it full time.

This lot cost me 40.00 for the van plus 20.00 for diesel and a few quid at MD's for some white van man re-fuelling.
Mate's redundant so has time to sort through some of it with me.

Charities are a bit hard to deal with as they have to have stuff tested for safety afaik so it's not worth them having electrical stuff a lot of the time.

you paid them? i bet theyd have paid you to take it away. its all in how ya market yourself - "computer waste disposal specialst" - lay it on with a trowel that it costs more to get rid of them than they are worth etc...

my company has been getting rid a removal van full of old tat every week for 4 weeks now! office bigger than we needed ya see, so people kept any old crap. Now we wont have space in the new place, its getting thrown out, and theres so much of it that we are paying someone to take it away!
