That is good results indeed !

I know fo a few valvers on carbs that don't make that sort of power, maybe they were just nto quite as well setup.. Carbs can be a bit of a pain..

    yeah,its impressed a few people [:D]
as for them being a pain, you shouldnt have any problems as long as they are maintained and looked after, only reason they would give any grief is if the linkages etc are worn causing air leaks.

its a long time since i had mine set up(at least 18 mth back?only once) and right up until the day i took it off the road it was still up for kicking scooby a$$

yer they are a pain to set up and have to be done every few months so i'm told.

    Next question

    on webers
will 40s or 45s perform better???? the 40s seem to be more readily available second hand.

There's 45's with everything on US eBay right now.

    You don't want 40's if you're after over 200BHP...

MattD has just gone for Badger5 ITBs...& yes the kit is circa 2K new....

His 9A motor is fully worked with flowed head 268/276 Schricks, 4 branch etc etc.. He is hoping for "over 200BHP" when he gets it properly mapped @ Stealth..

IMO the TBs give a smaller increase in power but really stoke up the torque curve..

220BHP is going to be a serious undertaking though. IanB & Barny are at the 200BHP mark on K-Jet, but this is the realistic limit of K-Jet ;)

wots the web site addy bud. ;)

on stock cars the 45s perform really well...i think this is mostly because they are around the 5-6000 rpm mark all the time around the track.
i want a really nice torque curve for the road and have sunday blasts with top performance.

2K is alot of money for TB for that i could get the engine lightened up and webers and a cam.lol.

You can alter the spec with Bill's kits. Money can be saved if you supply your own bits such as sensors, injectors etc and make your own wiring loom (although it's a very time consuming job and complicated job IMO)
You could even stick with the standard ignition system as you would with carbs but then you would only be doing half the job ;)

i've just been talking to a guy who runs 45s on a KR 1.8 engine thats had quite alot done to it and its producing around 240bhp. not just cos of the webers but it shows the 45s will fuel that much power. he also said the 40s wont work really well on the 9a because they just ar'nt big enough.

maybe this is why velly_16v_cab cant get over a certain bhp with his engine.

40's will only restrict power when the size of the venturi becomes too small.you can only go so big in 40's where with 45's you can play about more, and will be better suited to a 2.0 imo.
you can also adjust torque/revs with the length of the trumpets.
    :)

does anyone know how much room is left at the front of the engine with webbers fitted?

I wanted a big pipercross filter spanning both carbs but i've no idea how much room is left.

i think its tight when you use either mk1/mk2 radiator?
ive used a corsa [:$] rad, which sits under the front panel and a nova [:$] fan assembly.

I've seen some graphs and i'm going to go for the 45s.... they look like they will be able to cope alot more with the larger 2l 16v than the 40s

Has anyone got a grant motorsport 16v head with the larger exaust valves???? are these heads any good? they are 660 which i thinks abit of a steal considering its got larger ex valves. tsr just do a ported and polished for that.
