right guys i got my spare 2E motor stripped with my 2E bottom end sat getting built up, just rebuilt the Pb head and thats sat waitint to go on.
i noticed the clutch setup on the pb is totally different to the 2E, what do i use from them both? the flywheel teeth are attatched to part of the clutch on pb engine whereas the 2E has seperate flywheel with clutch bolted to it doesnt it???????
sorry if this sounds a stupid question, 1st engine conversion lol

Was one of the cars an auto?

If you're fitting it in a Mk2, use the PB clutch and flywheel.

when doing this conversion which is the best clutch to use? as in, a PB one yes but any particular make? I will be fitting nitrous to it when its all up, running and run in but only gonna have 50 bhp jets so what do people suggest?

apparently a 16v pressure plate is better then std 8v one as its heavier duty or use a fast road uprated 8v one

the sachs ones are exacly the same as the genuine ones made by the same manufacturer. so go for whats cheaper. it shud manage with the power ok.

    Whats the difference??

Come on lads........what if it's out of a Passat? ;)

Passat uses an 02a box, so the clutch would be totally different.

Doesn't sound like any PB engine I've ever seen. So it wasn't the 2E part that was causing the confusion.

The flywheel teeth (starter ring gear) are attached to the flywheel on all the PB's I've looked at - even the ones that got lightened by some mad welshman.

as hotgolf said, if 2e was in a passat that explains it, unbolt it all and throw in the bin, fit a MK2 8v GTI clutch and your old flywheel, chuck your old gearbox on and fit to the car! Sachs clutches use exactly the same pressure plate in both the 8v and 16v kits, so you're onto a winner there. (has to be an 8v kit btw, 16v kit wont fit your gearbox)

AVS do em for a good price! includes everything you need, including the 6 pressure plate bolts. The 12 flywheel bolts from your old lump can be re-used though.
