just some extra things that occured to me, someone better verify
what I'm saying if this goes in a FAQ

    Cam belt & covers

use a get a fresh belt and tensioner to match the donor engine if you
are using the 'tall block' I never bothered with the covers though.

    Exhausts

in the mk2 golf for example the extra height of the 'tall block'is
around 17mm, this does not affect the fit of the exhaust in the
majority of cases although it might be an issue with some 4 branch
    manifold

    Clutch

Use the one to match the gearbox you have, if you are using a 16v
box then use that clutch for example. I used an 8v stock Sachs clutch
and its fine but could do with a little more bite for hard launches

    Auto donor cars

you can use thes but keep the flywheel from the 1.8 engine, get new
bolts and bin the bits on the end of the crank shaft. Simple.

You can make the 2.0L quite revvy....mine had peak power at 7.2k but never take them over 7.5k. The bigends are a reak weak point.

My brother has just converted back to 1.8l and it didn't make a big difference to peak power but the torque dropped a lot.....however with a close ratio box you can sacrafice a bit of torque for 500 more revs. It wil now happily rev to 8k.

hey guys ive just done a 2.0 8v convertion agg block with the pb head ported and gasflowed 285 pipper cam and 421 manifold. runs like a dream but does need tunin a bit on a dyno road as i still need a kent or pipper cam pulley. any way i got 2 Qs the first is would a 1.8 16v head work in the 2.0 agg block or not because if it does i was gonna put a 1.8 16v head on with twin 45s or 40s. also if i was to go down a turbo side of things would it be possible to use a turbo on a low boost be4 i have to start changein pistons, cons, ect.

    cheers mark.

yes for digifant injection, if kjet or carbs then you need to use the old dizzy with a tsr or similar adaptor ring and 2.0 dizzy swapped on
