Can you buy a hub adaptor kit to enable mk3 wheels to be fitted to mk2's?

you can use adapters to fit any wheel you want, but if you do and then use mk3 wheels you will be running them at 15mm (or however thick your adapters are) wider, may rub arches if you are also running lowered susp..

Do it properly and change the rear disks and front hubs for uprgraded items. Won't sacrifice your handiling or bearing lifespan

You probabely can but it would effect the off set of the wheels so they may stick out. you are better of converting the hubs. ;)

    Ah I see.

Is there any where that sells a kit of bits that are required, or is it a trawl around the breakers?

If it is a breakers yard job, what exact parts do I need?

    From a MK3 GTI/VR6 :)

Front you can use early Passat VR6 flanges for a 5x100 fitment which is a driect swap, but i dont think there are 5x100 256mm brakes, so you'd need to re-drill some, or go to 280mm and use the 5 stud 280mm passat discs from vw

Would the above apply for also changing my MK3 4x100 set up to a 5 stud set up?

you can't just change hub flange and disk to run 280 brakes on 5 stud. your new disk wouldnt fit inside your 239/256 caliper
You would need later (g60?) hub carriers as well.

Haha, Rest assured I am not retarded and fully understand that I cant run 280mm rotors inside the 256mm caliper set up!

Interesting...I've been thinking of doing this conversion later in the year...as 4x100 alloys are older + much more expensive, and my wheel bearings are starting to grumble a bit. so need to do some work in that area anyway. My rear discs also need changing sometime

So to do the conversion I'd need

    Front:
    Discs - 280 mm
    Hubs + Carriers
    Calipers + Brackets
    - are the hoses / CV Joints / other suspension bits the same? Do the Mk2 struts fit the Mk3 carriers OK?

    Rear:
Just the discs (and a new bearing)

And of course, some 5 stud wheels.... should I look for the same offset, or do the 5 stud hubs sit differently?

    Cheers for any info.

For the front I was under the impression you needed, mk3 VR hubs discs, calipers and carriers and VR outer CV joints?![:s]

nope you'd need the wishbones, ARB and steering arms to use the mk3 stuff

i did this not so long back, i just changed the bottom arms for mk3 GTi items, need to change the roll bar also for this, then i fitted brand new bottom ball joints as these are a different angle as well, followed by a full vr6 spec hub, caliper, carrier, flange the whole lot, and coz the hub flange spline is different, i also swapped the outer cv's to vr6 ones as well. thank god the rears are just a disc change, and all in the name of trying to be original.
