How come we never see any mk2 vr6 synchros? Always 1.8T and G60...but never VR6!!! I guess the gearbox/coupling is not designed for the torque? Kev
south hereford garages in malvern had a g3 VR6 syncro etate (blue) at one point before they closed the malvern branch. it was an lhd german sourced thing. I guess that they might be a bit rare over there too though. in fact try www.mobile.de i found this but it looks a bit used http://www.mobile.de/SIDpF8s0at6c7PaMSHYz2iOqw-t-vaNexlCsAsC sK%F3P%F3R~BmSB11Iindex_cgiJ1114257255A1Iindex_cgiD1100CCarY -t-vctpLtt~BmPA1A1B20C443%81p-t-vCaMkMoPORDSeSmThVb_X_Y_x_yp ord~BSRA6D1100E25200DgolfC184D1998CPKWDGOLFKG%7C%FF%A5%7C%FF %A5%7C%FF%A5%7C%FF%A5%7C%FF%A5HinPublicA2A0A0A0C110D1992/cgi -bin/da.pl?bereich=pkw&top=3&id=11111111162853136&
and this whick looks in a bit better nick sorry the likns are so long, but thats just the way they are! http://www.mobile.de/SID0niiR2SLBg0WNJdMAbjdgA-t-vaNexlCsAsC sK%F3P%F3R~BmSB11Iindex_cgiJ1114257255A1Iindex_cgiD1100CCar% 5B-t-vctpLtt~BmPA1C121B20C443%81p-t-vCaMkMoPORDSeSmThVb_X_Y_ x_ypord~BSRA6D1100E25200DgolfC184D1998CPKWDGOLFKG%7C%FF%A5%7 C%FF%A5%7C%FF%A5%7C%FF%A5%7C%FF%A5HinPublicA2A0A0A0C110D1992 /cgi-bin/da.pl?bereich=pkw&top=138&id=11111111161880319&
in fact the links appear not to work at all I did a search for VW golf 1992 to 2000 150hp to 250hp and then shuffled through the 23 pages
There have been a few VR6 Rallies, & what do you mean too much torque? some of the played with 1.8Ts in 4x4 have double the bhp & torque of a VR6
I just mean- how come we don't see many mk2's with a synchro drive system and vr6?- i was guessing that the vr6 had more torque than the g60 that the synchro system was designed for. Is it even possible with the synchro system- to bolt a vr6 in with the synchro box?? K
Ive seen a few vr6 syncros and rallyes. Lots of money spent on the cars. My syncro will be a 2Li 8v with KJet when i get round to it, As its presently in pieces in the garage
I see- does that mean the cars need extensive modification to fit a vr6? or is it as simple as mating a 4-pot to it? K
the gearbox to fit a vr6 in a mk2 or rallye and have 4x4 as well isnt very common. Thats why you don't see many. vr6s dont bolt up to the same gearbox as the 4 cylinder mk2s and since the mk2 syncros and rallyes were all 4 cylinder engines, its not as easy a swap. There are a few about though. Sometime this century I'll get my rallye one back on the road, when I've robbed a few banks
ah- i see. I'm guessing then that the gearbox needed would come off a mk3 vr6 syncro- which are like rocking horse poo as mentioned above!? now i understand. thankyou! K
If you are handy though, they are now a lot more feasible due to the 4 motion mk4 - you've just got to make the hladex fit up to the MK2 shell - which isnt too hard of you can fabricate a few mounts
