I have infinity in mine and for 6x9's they are quite good, i am only using them as a stop gap though until i can afford some decent components.

do you sit in the back?

you dont need rear speakers if you got decent enough fronts,

and if you do, i would possibly put some decent coaxals in the rear quarters (if its a three door) or get pods if its a 5

If you want 6x9's the best value for money are infinitys. Halfords are doing them for 50quid, or they were when i last went in there

6*9's are the cheapest and easiest way to get ok sounding stereos. you can pick up acceptable 6*9's for 40 quid.. to do it 'properly' and go the route of components etc you are talking nearer 200 doing it cheap.

Not quiet m8 --- I picked up a set of Pioneer Accelerate 6.5" components for 50 new (Halfords are selling at 70 which is a reasonable price) and they are spot on for the money ---- Youd ideally need pods to put em in --- Most people favour Audioscape (or something) but I make my own and they cost pennies in reality.

yeh, a fair amount of work in making your own pods,

But to get the same frequency response as a set of 6x9's you would need an amp running them and another set of speakers taking care of the lower frequecies.

    So then things become expensive.

    Not really ---
If you have a decent headunit then you might not need to amp them up (I recently put a set of comps and pioneer mosfet 50w head unit in a Clio and it sounded mint!) and also they will be able to play better lower frequencies than 6x9's as they tend to bottom out with too much base ---

Some comps are better than others, if your looking for lower frequencies then steer away from Infinitys as these are better for higher frequencies.

6x9s are more fore people who arent interested in quality --- more for noise

    yeh i agree with that,

but i dont agree that they can play lower frequencys than 6x9's, 6x9's have a larger cone area there for move more air, so are able to produce lower frequencies,
    (could be wrong!)
