Oh yeah there was oil in the vac line at the map sensor end but the intercooler pipes and egr delete pipe are dry where this vac tees off from so I can only assume the oil was in the ecu map sensor from the last car it came from. I'll keep an eye on it.

What are the rules on pcv and the piping with regards to MOT ? Is it checked or not? Is it a fail if not plumbed into the intake?

I’d guess it at least needs to be plumbed into a catch can or well hidden venting out the back of the block.

Most importantly have you taken it for a drive on a private road yet?

Can anyone advise me on the legality of a catch can? Pcv > catch can > filter/atmosphere.
EDIT * Nothing on the gov website says anything about checking for this so I guess if it's not obvious....I'll take the chance and see if they pass it.

No they are brand spankers! Bled through again with all 4 calipers off and nipples up north lol
Very little air came out. They do stop but I have to push the pedal through the floor!

It's in having the pipe welded on now so I'll nip home before the MOT and take off the vac pipe from pump to servo and see if it has a leak.
    9" servo
    22mm master cylinder
    280mm discs front
    Standard rear with mk4 calipers.

Maybe it needs some adjustment in the pedal or there is a vac leak. I'll see what happens with the test.

It's definitely in limp mode too as there is no movement on the boost gauge and lacks massively in power. I'll hook up vcds later on and see what delights await lol

Ok so they didn't even test it as it's too low to drive over their rolling road
I'll lift it a good way and see where it leaves me.

    Fault code with vcds -
01262 - solenoid valve for boost pressure control (N75)
31-10 Open or short to ground.

When I first started it up weeks ago, the actuator rod moved when revved.
    Now nothing.
I have swapped for the N18 and still nothing.

Could this be a wiring fault?

Vac line to actuator I have sucked on this and it moves the rod.

    Please help!

Ok so this is strange but I've been playing with vcds and plugging/ unplugging different things. I have one spare square 2 pin plug laying unused near the maf that I had labled as egr n18. This is part of the old AHU loom.

    Wires are red/blue & black/yellow
    Seen here... rsz_20180419_172320.jpg
    Now I plugged the old n18 (1h0 906 627)
Into this spare plug and it moves the actuator slightly in reverse (as it's supposed to on a wastegate)

Maybe I have had the n75 plumbed into the egr wiring all along?

Further to back up my suspicions, whilst both the n75 and n18 were plugged in, no faults were present. Unplug the n18, I get an n75 fault... Unplug the n75 and I get an n18 fault!

The wiring for what I thought was the n75...

    Brown/white & black/yellow

Have I got these mixed up!?

I'm tempted to just rewire the spare plug and wham in the n75 and see what happens but wanted some views first.

Sounds like you definitely have them plugged the wrong way round

Coilovers I have on are back breakers!
Only had the opportunity to ride to the exhaust welders and to the MOT station and had to grit my teeth every time I saw a small pot hole!

Anybody have any experience with the bilstein shocks & eibach spring setup? Not massively low - just a touch [:$]

I want to avoid the dashboard jumping through the windscreen....

The MOT guy (basically family) said that the tyres were stretched so would be a fail anyway. I don't agree! They aren't stretched to the point of being unsafe in my opinion but who am I... I'm not the guy with the power to issue a pass so matters none.
