8v exchange engine

Hi there, can anybody recommend a UK trader who can supply and fit an exchange engine for an '89 8v GTi? Any ideas on rough costs? Ideally in London or South/South East. Thanks

Probably cheaper to find a reasonable condition 2.0 8v with the Mk2 head and get that fitted. I do pretty the odd engine install here and there, the lumps aren't too hard to source and are probably cheaper than exchange units.

im sure there is a place just the other side of the water in Kent, the name 'the engine shop' rings a bell but not too sure.

I thinks they are a bit like TSR in that they are perfomance replacment units:

My 8 valve is dead but cant justfiy spending that money on a 8 valve when you can do a conversion for less. I supose if the golf is mint and standar then you might do it for concurs.
