I've got these andbought them from trimsport as stated. I have one on the back, one on the glovebox and one attached at the front(made a bracket and stuck it below the GTi badge exactly like the 16v one). I also changed the red GTi badges on the side door trims. I did it purely for cosmetic reasons.

yep and fuel economy! lol, never looked at it like that. suppose if i put a volvo 850 badge on it i could do kenel work too. or maybe a defender 90 badge and i could tow farm stuff......

the main reason is cos it will be exactly what it says on the tin!

tbh, it'll just look like some notsocheap tacky badge you bought from trimsport to stick to the back of your 8v, because secretly you know its not as good as a 16v...
    imo

I personally like those 8v badges... And if anything, its showing your proud to have the 8v engine.

Think one will look tasty on my mk2 gti... [:D]

I like the 8V badges from an "OEM+" perspective, but I can't help thinking people only fit them to try and "keep up appearances" with the 16v.

Besides, if I was missing 8 valves, I wouldn't want to advertise it :p

its not the fact you are missing 8 valves, you mearly have eight bonus ones, that the original owner paid extra for. i dont own my GTI for speed etc etc. its my liltle buddy that does 39 mpg, muches milesand looks quite tasty being srtandard `90 spec with the late late interior.

when i was buying this golf, my third mk2 other being a GTD & my mates oldhome made vr conversion (too much fun withhairdressers on motorways).i travelled about 1200 miles, all over north wales, north west and west mids to find a nice one. and alas the best one was 30 miles away from my house. with two owners, the last one being a split bottom for five years.

i just thought imo when i saw this badge " oooo its a valver, oh no its an 8v, intersting badge". i wondered if they were std issue but thought only the 16v has those redbadges - i konw i`ll ask the public!!

dont get me wrong i hate little boys in cars with a 1 litre engine saying they are a gti, VTR (shudders). and this topic of badges is sounding like a gathering in halfords car park with one skyline and a load of corsa`s (with may i add snowploughs added for the winter).

At the end of the day once you start listening to some of the idiots on this forum who seem to sit at home waiting to pick out stuff about anything you type/do, then you'll probably go insane mate ;)

Just ignore everyone else and do something you like.. :p

Yeah fair play, do what you want - it's your car.

I'm personally more in favour of the stealth approach to badging.. but whatever floats your boat :)

I've got an 8v with one of those 8v badges on the back.

I have it because it came with the car. I'm not proud to have an 8v engine, because it is, as engines go, a hunk of sh*t.
