I want to change the valve cover of my mk1 GTI 8v with an aftermarket one or an OEM one that looks cleaner than the original one (without all the bumps and curves and spots). Which options are there?

    something like this maybe...

    or

even the one on the mk3 looks much better...will it fit without problems?

the mk3 one should bolt on with the correct gasket

Only problems with fitting the mk3 cover is that the breather is on the wrong side so needs replumbing and the standard cambelt cover won't fit due to the shape

Thanks, that sounds easy enough :) Am I trying with the wrong words on ebay because not even a single good result was given!!

Those shouldn't be a problem then because I have a breather filter instead of the pipes and no cambelt cover :) thanks

there are some other options around but like the callaway, they are rare!!

try searching for AGG cam cover or 2E cam cover

Remember you need to change the cam cover studs with the newer gasket as it uses parallel M6 studs, where as the older design used M6 studs with a wider flat section to locate the cork gasket.

ifyou fit mk3 2.0 8v rocker to a digi mk2 you need to remove all the studs and fit it with bolts instead, theres just not enough clearance between studs, fuel rail, fpr, inlet etc for it to fit otherwise. g60 rocker cover is similar to mk3 but direct fit on a mk2 digi with breather being on the correct side

The first one will fit, not sure about the second one though. I suppose one way to find out would be to see if the gaskets are the same part number. The only thing I notice with the second one is that the breather is on the end of the can cover so will need replumbing and checking for clearance if it were to fit

mhh the second one is cheap and good enough for me...will have to check if it fits, As for the breather it will not pose a problem because I do not have any plumbing for it, just a breather filter

yup the ahl cover will fit, same gasket as mk2/3. only thing is the breather looks liek it might have some kind of metal circlip fitting like the later mk3 8v engine blocks, not sure if a breather filter would fit on it. im sure you could find a hose to fit and mod it though
