    Hi All,

I have a problem where my golf like to stutter/misfire/hesitates and I lose power at cruising speeds. I would say it happens as I back off the throttle.

When it clears it runs fine and revs out as normal.

    Other info:
Rev counter drops when it plays up
    Oil leak through distributor
    Did head gasket recently
    Temp sensors replaced on head

The car (Victor) did this hiccup with my 16month old daughter on board last weekend so the cars is sat in the last chance saloon. I almost cannot rely on it at the moment.

    I've replaced:
    Dizzy cap
    Rotor arm
    Leads
    Plugs
    Fuel pump relay

Now I know the feed to the rev counter comes from the coil. But the cars seems fine under load, it's when I'm backing off the throttle I get the problem.

My next step was going to be the distributor as it's leaking oil and I've read the hall sender could be at fault, is the the right move?

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks

    Gareth
