ok atfer consulting the company that fitted my alarm and immoblisier
about fixing my immobiliser which is stuck on and them quoting me
150+VAT just to come and look at it i have come to the descision that
it would be cheaper to buy a new one rather than fix the old.

Has anyone removed an alarm and immobiliser before and is it even possible? How do i go about it?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    thanks. chris.

by chance i removed my old immobiliser today>

Firstly i would say take the dash off and have a look, generally the ignition wires have been cut and in soldered to the immobiliser, so it is just a case of undoing all of the joints and putting the wiring back to normal.

helps if you have good wire cutters, soldering iron and heynes manual for the wiring diagram.

Chances are they didn't bother to take the dash off when they fitted it, so the cuts could be just behind the fuse panel. Look for 4 plain black wires that have been joined into the original loom, they may be hidden inside a taped up bit of loom. They've probably cut into the starter feed (red/black) and fuel pump supply (red/white?).

If you can find them then just cut the black wires off and rejoin the cuts, then at least you can drive it and bugger about getting the immob out later.

thanks mate thats really helpful, weve found the black wires under the
steering column cowling. They have been taped together (no soldering!),
and that was GAP that installed the thing, nice work guys!! gonna go
and take another look and see what else is there.

    thanks for the replies.

Bingo! That's why it's not working any more, if they've taped those then the whole install is probably a mess (and they've cut a good minute off the time it'll take someone to hotwire it ). I'd take it back and have a right f*cking moan about that. They should sort that out for free, it's their noddy workmanship that's at fault. If they give you sh*t start muttering things about 'VSIB standards' and 'I wonder what the inspectors phone number is'

    Hi...

Are / was you removing an Scorpion Alarm; and are the wire the same colour on the MK3 GTI 2Lr. I have already removed the lower panel and started to expose the cables close to the fuse box; but can't find 4 black wires as yet??? that look anything like they have been joined up...

I have had to tape up 7 nicked wires so far; as not to short anything out while I'm rummaging about. Who ever was last under there didn't have a steady hand with the old knife or cutter's...
