You can mount an amp anyway up you like and it'll be fine.

Just be careful where you drill, and make it secure. You don't want it falling off when you slame the boot.

Also, it'll make the boot lid heavy, and may not stay open on its own.

no, make sure the fins point upwards or heat won't escape and it'll overheat!!!

if you can mount it upside down, it'll tell you in owners manual.

i could be wrong, but if you mounted it upside down then put fans blowing on to it would that work?

like one either side of it, one blowing on to the amp and one taking the hot air away,

fans won't work as the heat usually rises of the circuit where as if it's upside down the heat doesn't escape from the circuit

I doubt there will be much problem with overheating, don't forget the amp will be screwed into the boot lid so that would act like a heat sink too. On a warm summers day that could be a problem though as the amp could be warmed up by the sun through the boot lid. Also the amp would be sitting in the highest (and warmest) place in the boot.

Weight is an issue too. My spoiler and sound proofing have made my boot a lot heavier to lift. But it will stay up regardless of the weight as it goes past vertical and leans towards the front of the car.

I have mine on the back of the rear seat, hidden behind the sub. Easy to get to aswell, just tilt the seat foreward.

To take account of extra weight, you can buy new lifters which can cope, Bonrath make em.

yeah i though t about the seat back but that would mean not being able to slide the box over
unless it was raised up on stilts
    hmm
    mind boggling stuff
