Gees they are coming up thick and fast atm Old cars huh! Front wipers only work full speed had the stalk off cleaned up, still the same.. Relay... Surely not another one!! Is very warm, my thinking is possibly the intermittent part of the relay has broken. Not tried another one yet just asking if anyone s had this problem .... Second issue. Not really a problem but anyone ever had the speedo cable dislodge in the gearbox side. Stopped working took out and out drill on it and worked on the clocks, just seemed to pop out of the orange plastic bit. Put back together so seems ok
grab yourself a MK3 golf 99 relay, if it doesnt help then when you do fix it you'll have variable intermittent wipers there should be a circlip on the end of the cable that holds the gear on, make sure thats still there. then its just a case of give the gear a good hard shove to seat jobs a goodun oh and make sure its properly seated. the peg on the end of the gear needs to drop into a machined hole in the bottom of the case, otherwise it'll flop about inside
